Jean Shares Her First Experience with Steampunk

A friend, Jean Bishop, has shared her experience learning about Steampunk Art. Jean visited “The Artists Studio in the Promenade.” The gallery is located on the first level of the shopping mall in Suite 159.

Read below!

When I was invited to go and see Steampunk, I have to say, I thought I was going to see a punk band. Why not? Instead, I was treated to some very interesting art.

You can look at a piece then come back and look again. You see things you didn’t notice the first time. I got a grin looking at the hot air balloon piece. There was a car license tag from Wichita. This is where we start singing “It’s a small world.” My two favorite pieces are the sewing machine and the truck.

Thank you, Beverly!

Below are some photos, taken by Jean, during her visit to the gallery:

Family Life Center Make-and-Take Steampunk Class

I recently hosted a fun make-and-take steampunk class at the Family Life Center. The ladies set up a special tea party luncheon. They made tea sandwiches, blueberry and poppy seed scones, lemon curd, jam, and fresh fruit salad. They also had assorted teas. Each table had fresh flowers along with our own hot water teapot, cream, sugar, and lemon slices. Spring green tablecloths were on all the tables. They had vintage and antique tea cups and saucers. It was lovely.

The ladies had set up a spot for me and a place for six women to work on their jewelry boxes. All of them finished their boxes and really had fun helping each other with suggestions. I had separated the jewelry by color and had mini perfume bottles, mini doll heads, crosses, and wings. They went digging through the boxes finding the colors and various items they wanted. You can see they did a great job. What a fun day we had!
